Dr. Chinelo Ogbuanu practiced general medicine in Nigeria before relocating to the United States to pursue her master’s and doctorate degrees in public health, specializing in health services, policy, and management. She spent five years as a Senior Maternal and Child Health Epidemiologist at the Georgia Department of Public Health in Atlanta. She then transitioned to the Global Fund in Geneva, Switzerland, where she worked in the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Country Analysis (MECA) team, overseeing the evaluation of focused portfolios covering HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria across more than 40 countries.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Ogbuanu was uniquely positioned in Sierra Leone, West Africa, where she lent her wealth of experience to the Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism. There, she facilitated critical grant writing and negotiation processes for both the NFM3 and the COVID-19 Response Mechanism grants. Most recently, she served as a Senior Health Scientist in the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) Program Office in Atlanta, where she coordinated data dissemination documentation, analysis, and reporting, and shepherded cross-site manuscript writing from end-to-end, while mentoring junior scientists in literature reviews, case studies, abstracts, and manuscript preparation across nine sites in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
